Can you believe we're halfway through
August already? Time is just flying by. How was your summer? A few
weeks ago we went on vacation to Glacier National Park. We'd been
planning this trip since the beginning of the year. My parents and
my brother and his wife drove all the way from the East Coast to meet
us up there! I'm still working my way through the nearly 1100(!)
pictures that I took that week, so you'll have to wait a little while
longer to see what we saw. :) We had a great time.
We've kept ourselves pretty busy over
the summer between family activities, barbeques and play dates with
friends, vacation, visitors and VBS, adjusting to my husband's new
work schedule and just keeping up with everyday activities and
responsibilities. In addition, we are anticipating the arrival of
our newest family member this November – so I've been busy digging
baby clothes out of storage!
Here are some snapshots of our summer.
Horseback riding... on a windy day!
Wildflowers on a short local hike.
Prickly Pear
Indian Paintbrush
Scarlet Globemallow
Rabbitfoot Crazyweed
Unidentified small white flower
Sunflower
Intrepid hikers.
Can you spot the “bear” in this
photo?
If you guessed
the-stump-the-kids-are-running-towards, you're right! Nothing
bear-like about it, but they enjoyed their little game...
Twin mule deer fawns behind our
apartment.
Love the double row of spots down his
back. So cute.
Spotted this Waxwing at a local park,
sitting on a Russian Olive tree.
And this Western Tanager. Gorgeous.
We all enjoyed the 4th of
July parade and followed it up with a barbeque and fireworks watching
with some good friends.
One of the biggest highlights of the
summer for our son was the receipt of an unexpected gift. Some
friends of ours gave him a bike that their children had outgrown. We
had given him a trike for his birthday last year, but he never really
got into it that much (he had some trouble pedaling it). The bike,
however, he took to like a duck to water! Our little Biker Dude
found his wheels, and he's not looking back! :)
Yes, here we are in the middle of
August, which puts us just about a month shy of the one-year
anniversary of our big move. I guess it's not just the summer that
has gone by quickly! I can't believe it has been that long already.
Well, stay tuned for those pictures
from Glacier!
